چکیده
Diaphragms are a fundamental part of the earthquake-resistant system, and in terms rigidity, it is essential to transmit dynamic loads on base structure. Also, floor openings response buildings against progressive collapse issues that have received less attention. In this study, opening surfaces their positions potential steel moment-resisting frame (SMRF) were investigated according alternate load path method. Also, retrofit rehabilitate two-way reinforced concrete (RC) slabs collapse, two strategies, prestressed installing carbon fiber polymer sheets surface old slab, proposed six-story SMRF simulated using finite element method. The maximum axial force around removal column 20% greater than corresponding values corner plan appropriate performance slab leads distribution ceiling diaphragm.

Numerical Study of Progressive Collapse in Intermediate Moment Resisting Reinforced Concrete Frame Due to Column Removal
Progressive collapse is a chain reaction of failures propagating throughout a portion of the structure disproportionate to the original local failure occurring when a sudden loss of a critical load‐bearing element initiates a structural element failure, eventually resulting in partial or full collapse of the structure. Both General Services Administration (GSA) and United States Department of D...

متن کاملComparison of Progressive Collapse Capacity of Steel Moment Resisting Frames and Dual Systems with Buckling Retrained Braces
Progressive collapse is a condition where local failure of a primary structural component leads to the collapse of neighboring members and the whole structure, consequently. In this paper, the progressive collapse potential of seismically designed steel dual systems with buckling restrained braces is investigated using the alternate path method, and their performances are compared with those of...
متن کاملA Retrofitting Framework for Pre-Northridge Steel Moment-Frame Buildings
A case study of retrofitting a 20-story pre-Northridge steel moment-frame building is presented. Twelve retrofit 4 schemes are developed with varying degrees of intervention. Three retrofitting techniques are considered: up5 grading the brittle beam-to-column moment resisting connections, and implementing either conventional or 6 buckling-restrained brace elements within the existing moment-fra...
متن کاملAnalysis on Dynamic Response of Reinforced Concrete Frame for Resisting Progressive Collapse
In order to investigate the dynamic response of reinforced concrete spatial frames caused by initial damages, a six-story frame model is analyzed by employing the nonlinear dynamic methodology in accordance with the alternate path method issued by General Services Administration. In this paper, the fiber model and force-based beam-column element are utilized in OpenSees. Four various scenarios ...
